Conway's Bleeps and Bloops
A downloadable project for Windows and macOS
This cellular automata is based on an untitled work by Batuhan Bozkurt (@earslap) that inspired me to pursue the exploration of generative systems.
The work uses a modified ruleset of Conway's Game of Life, incorporating the parameter of cell age and random resurrection to avoid a dead state. The parameters of the automata have then been used to create generative music. Cells are assigned a random pitch at birth (selected from the chromatic scale), and, as a given cell's lifetime increases (reflected by the shifting in its colour), its associated pitch gets higher.
Audio generated with Pure Data, Cellular Automata created in Unity.
Pure Data integrated into Unity using Enzien Audio's Heavy.
Note: this is a non interactive work.
